Inbound 2015 has lined up sheer awesomeness through its speakers. There is Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of The Clinton Foundation, researcher and storyteller Brené Brown, and ace comedy star Aziz Ansari! And, there’s Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah, the co-founders of HubSpot. The list of INBOUND 2015 speakers is long and ultrapowerful. We bring you some of our favorites.
We start with the keynote speaker, there’s Seth Godin, author, entrepreneur, and marketer. At Niswey, we sometimes do a team Namaste to him, to acknowledge his guru-dom. In the 2013 keynote, he asked if you look at an opportunity and ask ‘What can I do with the skills I already have?’, or do you think, ‘What could we DO with this?’. And he rattled old-school marketers by saying that if they still thought it was all about ‘buying attention’, “we need to take a moment and mourn that”. It is about connection, about making a difference. To get a taste of what his keynotes are like, take a look here.
Next on our fave list is Daniel Pink, the author of Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us, one of the books some of us at Niswey read a few years ago. Pink talked about how monetary incentives don’t work for any tasks that require cognitive, creative skills. Once you pay people enough, they are more bothered about autonomy, mastery and purpose, says Pink, basing this on several studies done round the world.
Pink may not be a direct influence on Niswey’s road to holacracy, and search for purpose, but we can’t deny indirect influence. Now with his newly released book called To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others, expect some great insights into selling, at INBOUND.
Ann Handley, Chief Content Officer of MarketingProfs is also on our list! She is the author of the Everybody Writes: Your Go-To Guide to Creating Ridiculously Good Content. She also co-authored the best-selling book on content marketing, Content Rules: How to Create Killer Blogs, Podcasts, Videos, Ebooks, Webinars (and More) That Engage Customers and Ignite Your Business. If you are a content marketer, then you should be following Ann Handley on Twitter. Here’s a quote from Content Rules: “Does the idea of voice suggest something artsy-fartsy, completely outside the realm of doing business? In a word, no. In a few more words, the notion of voice actually has everything to do with your business. Voice is about how your write, certainly. But in a larger sense, it is also about how you express your brand.”
And there are many others like Doug Kessler of Velocity, Brian Clark of Copyblogger Media, Lee Odden of TopRank Marketing who are among the influencers we follow at Niswey.
This will be so much fun!
